Great News!!!

Ok, first....I'm sorry, no Halloween pictures just yet. Long weekend. Not feeling so great, not absolutely sure where the camera is...somewhere in the dining room or living room...anyway, they are still coming.

Great news!
1. Our congregation has approved sending Hubby and I to Pastoral Leadership Institute. This will mean classes, study, reading, papers, trips, small group with other pastors and their wives, trips, oh, and did I mention TRIPS!! We will be making at least one or two trips ALONE for the next 4 years!!! We get to go to retreats with out small group. We go to "large group" things for a week once a year. And, in the 4th year we get to go on a 2-3 week international mission trip! I am just so excited (and a tiny bit nervous...ok, a bit more than tiny...nervous). I am so excited and proud of Hubby for being nominated for this. It is a huge honor. He is a wonderful pastor and I am just so proud!

2. Did I mention that we get to go on trips...together?? :o)

3. Hubby told me some exciting news this weekend...a new restaurant is going to be built in our "Little Big City" soon. The city is growing...Sam's just opened last week, and that is SO AWESOME! Now, they are building an A&W hot dog place...not the exciting news. OLIVE G*RDEN is coming!!! YIPPEE!! This is one of my FAVORITE places!! Can you see my smile???

Enough good news, like I said earlier, I'm not feeling so great. My throat feels like I'm trying to swallow glass. Guess I'm going to try to get back into the doctor. No fever, no coughing, no sinus pain this time...just a sore throat. By evening I almost have no voice...not that that is a bad thing ;o) (according to hubby!)

Don't forget to VOTE tomorrow!!

Life...is complicated

Yes, there is more going on here in my little life than Halloween costumes. However...it's not exactly "bloggable." (How is that for making up my own word??) Being a pastor's wife, much of my life is wrapped up right where it should be, with my husband and his/our ministry. The nature of ministry means that much of it is confidential or at least not of the nature that it should be made PUBLIC...so, there is much going on in my life right now that I can't write about. So, I'm sorry for the fluff posts about costumes and such (look for a pumpkin post soon!)...but that is all I've got right now. Sorry. Hopefully one day I can share what is going on with us...
If you are a praying person, and wish to pray for us, I would be very grateful. Prayers for peace, patience, understanding, guidance, and that God's Will would be seen and followed. Thank you to all!

My Hubby is AMAZING!

I am so proud of my husband. He is considered a "young" pastor, but he has been nominated for a very prestigious program. It's called "Pastoral Leadership Institute" or PLI. You have to be nominated by your peers and approved by our district president. Not very many pastors each year are nominated and accepted into this program...just to be nominated is a very exciting thing!
PLI is a 4 year program that involves a lot of study, travel, service, etc, etc. But one exciting thing about it is that the wives are a big part of it! Wives go on a lot of the trips with the pastor and are a very important part of the whole process.
He just found out today that he was nominated, so please keep the whole process in your prayers. First of all, we will need to pray about it and decide if this is something we want to persue as a couple and family. It does take a lot of time and trips...and with already serving a vacant congregation, time is something that seems to be in short supply. If we decide this is something we do want to pursue, we also need to have the support of our congregation. This program is not free, and the congregation is expected to pay the majority of the costs. As you all know, money does not grow on trees, but God will provide if this is what He wants Hubby to do!
Thank you for letting me brag on my man for a while!!! He really is pretty awesome!
Did I mention that he stayed home and worked from his laptop this week when Bethany was sick! He's such a MAN! Love you, MY MAN!

Linkage

I have been reading a blog written by a pastor in North Carolina. He is the father of Nate (the husband I have been asking for prayers about)...anyway, Rick has a series on his blog about pastoring and pastor's families. One post was "What you might not know about your pastor." The second one in the series was "What you might not know about your pastor's wife." The last in the series is "What you might not know about your pastor's kids."
For those of you in the ministry (or married to it!), these essays will hit you in the heart. It is so comforting to read someone who knows how you feel. Someone who knows the hurts and joys of being in the ministry of God's people. For those of you who aren't in the ministry, but are in the church, it will give you insight into your pastor and his family. It will give suggestions on how to relate to and support your pastor, and his family.
Now, how do you go about getting everyone in church to read a blog?? ;O)

By the way...Tricia is up and walking without any support...no vent or oxygen...for the first time since October! Rick is posting updates so Nate can take a short blogging break to be there for his "girls." Go on over and see how they are doing...

(For those who might not know how a "link" works...click on the underlined words above and it will take you directly to the site...:o))
